The Frieze art fair has closed up shop for another year here in London, but visiting last week I was really impressed by the quality and ambition of Frieze Masters magazine. Whereas Frieze magazine gave its name to the fair that has since grown to epic proportions, Frieze Masters is going in the other direction and gradually expanding to become a magazine and events brand that lives beyond the art fair it sprang from.

The magazine’s creators of course have access to a jaw-dropping array of content, but they do it justice with expert commentary and a lovely, clear approach to page layout that really makes the most of some incredible images. The fair is over for another year now, but it’s well worth tracking down a copy of Frieze Masters while they’re still on shelf.
