Stack in the boxPosted by Steve Watson on Monday, May 28th, 2012
What are you doing from 22-24 June? Do you fancy coming down to Shoreditch for some magazine fun?
Stack is going to be taking over one of the containers at Boxpark as part of Uncontained, a series of creative events presented by Shellsuit Zombie and 55DSL. Each day we’ll be doing something different and it would be lovely to see you down there if you can make it.
The three days will kick off with a cover competition – we’ll gather all the current Stack covers and ask you to vote for your favourite. You’ll be able to vote on Twitter, on Facebook or by dropping into the box, and for every vote we’ll print a copy of the cover and stick it to the wall of the box. By the end of the day we’ll have real scientific proof of the most popular covers, represented in a sort of messy, papery infographic.
The filling in the sandwich, Saturday will be all about music. We’re asking our favourite British independent music magazines to come down and play some songs, hand out magazines and generally hang out. Then at 6pm Sean from Drowned in Sound will host a discussion on modern independent magazines – have a look at the line up for more details.
After all that we’re keeping it simple on the Sunday, with a short-lived (you might say pop-up) shop stocked with independent magazines for you to come and buy. There will be a mix of current and back-issues, so this is your chance to come down and either discover something new or complete your collection.
I’ll be there for the whole three days and there will be various magazine people dropping in pretty much the whole time, so come down, say hello and help yourself to a free beer. This is going to be good.
