Video review: Lucky Peach

The magazines I review in these videos tend to be at the smaller end of the spectrum because that’s where I see most of the interesting stuff going on, but there are some superstars of the independent publishing world that are doing amazing work.

Lucky Peach has been an inspiration to other publishers from the beginning, and while they launched as part of the McSweeney’s stable they announced late last year that they were going it alone under their own steam. And why not. To labour a culinary metaphor, they’ve got a tried and tested recipe that takes quality ingredients and presents them simply and effectively.

It makes for a fantastic read and is an excellent role model – the world needs more magazines like this!
