I first came across Editorial Magazine in a feature where magCulture’s Jeremy Leslie selected it as the mag to look out for, as he spoke highly of the Montreal-based title’s refreshing editorial and design.

Founded by artist Claire Milbrath (whose paintings deserve attention on their own) it champions the freaks and geeks of contemporary art, culture and fashion — expect an engaging, humorous and mind-arousing adventure. Read the gushing commendations of its previous issue from design journalist Madeleine Morley, and head over to Sampler to secure yourself a copy. This magazine has been difficult to obtain in Europe due to limited stockists, so make sure you don’t miss out.

In this issue:

lala-editorial-magazine— Brooklyn artist Lala Albert marks the arrival of a new crop of ‘sci-fi artists’, alongside her peers Panayiotis Terzis and Char Esme
editorial-magazine-16-CicciolinaMaya Fuhr shoots ‘Made in Heaven’, an ode to the Italian porn star and muse to Jeff Koons, Cicciolina
weyes-blood-editorial-magazine— Visit the LA bedroom of ‘folk-freak’ musician Weyes Blood and find out about her favourite objects in it
ladislav-editorial-magazineLadislav Guderna is exactly the kind of artist Editorial champions: prolific, other-worldly, and virtually unknown. In this six page exposé, see the team’s favourite pieces from the Canadian surrealist painter’s collection
horoscope-editorial-magazine-kiera-mcnally— Staff Astrologer/goddess Kiera McNally forecasts your 2017 horoscopes, packed full of puns and sass

— Editor and Staff Historian Claire Milbrath, writes a love letter to the Russian Tsar Catherine the Great. Citing real diary entries, as well as accounts from her lovers, they depict Catherine as the original Bad Bitch. Don’t miss her wonderful portrait by artist Jonny Negron (above)

Shara-Hughes-editorial-magazine— Just before Shara Hughes mounts the top of the art world with her wild landscapes, she sits down for an interview with Jessica Kirsch. Explore some of her never-before-seen oil pastel paintings, childlike and free, with unpredictable use of colour and perspective

Browse more spreads of the magazine and order a copy over at Sampler. As always, you’ll get free shipping to the US, UK and Europe and 10% off the cover price. But there are limited numbers available, so don’t sleep on this!
