It has always been my aim that Stack sends out the best, most interesting, most exciting magazines in the world, regardless of who makes them. That’s not normally a problem – most people making independent magazines are plucky underdogs, working night and day to get their words and pictures out into the world. Pretty much anyone can get behind that.

But what if a very wealthy celebrity decided to get into independent magazines? And what if that celebrity was none other than jazz pop star Jamie Cullum?

When I saw issue one of The Eighty-Eight, the magazine curated by Jamie and made by his small editorial team, I was really surprised. It was clearly intended primarily for his fans, but there was some great stuff in there: quality writing, interesting graphic design, and the sort of personality and attention to detail that only comes with genuine passion. Still, I’d never send a Jamie Cullum magazine out on Stack.

But then I heard the magazine was changing – it would still be directed by Jamie, but now not just for his fans. This was going to be the beginning of something new; something much more ambitious and intended for all. Rejuvenated and reworked, The Eighty-Eight is looking fantastic and I can’t wait to send it out to Stack subscribers later this year. Watch out for it coming soon!
