Podcast: Cassius Matthias, Yes & No magazine

It was while recovering from a life-threatening bout of pneumonia that Cassius Matthias first came up with the idea that would eventually become Yes & No magazine. Filled with gratitude at just being alive, he wanted to share the energy and optimism he felt, and decided that a print magazine would be the perfect platform for telling the stories that fascinate him.

Fast forward a couple of years and the second issue of Yes & No is on shelves now – a totally original title that defies categorisation in both its subject matter and style of storytelling. Cassius was a filmmaker before his illness and he brings a particularly filmic approach to the printed page, setting up subtle thematic associations that play out between stories and even across issues, and creating a reading experience reminiscent of montage.
