Art & design

A literary and arts magazine published between the US and UK, Soft Punk launched at the start of last year with the primary aim of “Prying Sense from Our Strange Present”. Of course they couldn’t have known at the start of 2020 just how strange things were going to get, but they’ve continued on their mission and this latest instalment is their best issue yet; thoughtful and eloquent, it engages with the major issues that have impacted the last 12 months, but doesn’t become overwhelmed by them. The sentiment that characterises these pages is quiet hope against the odds that though things are not easy, we can find a way to make them better.

Below, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite comments from subscribers. Scroll down to see out Stack subscriber of the month.

5. Stunning cover

We love this tweet from Kelly, which highlights Soft Punk’s gorgeous cover art.

4. New Normal

Shout out to Studio Conover for highlighting an interesting part of Soft Punk’s editorial intention, to steer away from the “shrugging acceptance of the so-called New Normal”, and try to move beyond Covid on its pages.

3. Floral tribute

A spring-time theme cropped up in the pictures we got sent this month. We’re into it.

2. Cats

We are in love with this video of Soft Punk with a cat.

1. Birthday weekend

We like this beautiful birthday picture from Stack subscriber Emily. T-shirt on its way to you!
