Video review: OOMK magazine

One of the most exciting things about independent magazines is the lack of barriers – these days virtually anyone can turn their words and pictures into a printed magazine, which leads to a fantastic diversity.

But there are still major blind spots, and for example there are relatively few editors and art directors out there from black and ethnic minority backgrounds. That’s one reason why I like OOMK (One Of My Kind), a magazine / zine made by a group of British Muslim women, who use it to give a totally original and subtly nuanced perspective on contemporary culture.

I’d love to see more like this…
