Nurturing sustainable fashion in The Lissome

Untitled-1 pause

Dörte de Jesus is the editor and founder of The Lissome, a sustainable fashion magazine based in Berlin. She became fascinated by the fashion industry while working at Elle Germany, and although she quickly became disillusioned by the wastefulness of fast fashion, she says she felt inspired to champion the people and companies working at the forefront of more sustainable making. Soon Dörte was joined by photo director Anna Rosa Krau and fashion director Sophia Schwan as the core Berlin team, and since then The Lissome has grown into an international collective of writers, photographers, and stylists.

As you’ll hear, this is more than just a job for them, and the team feel passionate about taking a holistic approach to everything they do, which has helped to ensure that the first issue of The Lissome is a very beautiful, very refined magazine. It’s also backed up by a really impressive following that was built online first, and they’ve done a great job of converting that interest into a living and breathing magazine community, while Dörte has simultaneously made some pretty huge changes in her own personal life.

She stopped in at the Stack office when she was in London a few weeks ago, and I’m pleased to say that in the meantime we’ve managed to get hold of some copies of the new issue, so if her stories of beauty and sustainability leave you wanting more, head over to the Stack shop to see spreads and a story list, and of course to buy a copy for yourself.
