Art & design Current affairs

All good things, as they say, must come to an end. Why? I’m not exactly sure, and if Nelly Furtado couldn’t figure it out then who am I to philosophise? With all that in mind, we’re not quite there yet!

Over the course of the last 12 days, you’ve been voting for your favourite from a selection of three eye-popping magazine covers. Now, with a winner in the back pocket for every month of this year, and a big well done to Suspira for taking the final monthly prize yesterday, we need your help to choose 2018’s overall champion.

Of course, we wouldn’t ask you to do something like that without offering something in return: there’s still one more chance to win a free Stack subscription in our reader competition! Well done to Will from Twitter on winning their own subscription yesterday, but today’s your day — right?

Today, 21 December, we’re putting all the monthly winners of our cover completion up against each other to decide 2018’s champion of champions. With the top title revealed on Christmas Eve, it’s also your chance to win a free Stack subscription for your trouble! Call it an early Christmas present, courtesy of Stack.

Check our Twitter and Instagram feeds today for your chance to weigh in. The voting ends at midnight tonight, and tomorrow morning we’ll pick one person to win a year’s subscription to Stack — so remember to check back!

Choose your favourite cover for 2018!

The second issue of @tavernamagazine is covered with a psychedelic ooze to signify ambrosia, food of the gods. Elsewhere in this Greek food magazine you’ll find ouzo and grilled octopus in the ‘tsipouradika’ of modern day Volos; rose petal preserve as made by monks; and the mythological meanings of figs, lotus, wine, and of course ambrosia. Now I’m hungry…

With their inaugural offer taking home Launch of the Year at the Stack Awards 2018, @suspiramagazine’s follow-up “Fetish” issue is another bleak and beautiful contribution to the powerful horror/feminism canon they’re so quickly establishing. Sex, death, leather — what more could you ask for?
