Current affairs

The Nib is a comics magazine with a focus on graphic journalism, exploring current affairs with the personal perspective that comics are so good at providing. This issue’s theme is animals, with features on animal welfare and conservation, and some irresistible musings from artists on the peculiarities of living with cats. What we love about The Nib is the way it reaches out beyond the obvious and into more unexpected territory. See, for example, the idiosyncratic animal-inflected stories about everyday life for suspected terrorists in Guantanamo Bay.

And that’s not all we sent to Stack subscribers last month — tucked down in every envelope was a copy of Dog Ear, the lovely little literary magazine that thinks it’s a bookmark. Below are some of our favourite responses sent in from Stack readers around the world, and right at the bottom, you’ll find our February subscriber of the month…

4. “Pure brilliance”

Our favourite subscriber Robert Newman always sends the best pictures.

3. Shot in the arm

Matt Bors, the editor of The Nib, celebrating having his own magazine delivered to him in the post.

2. Bananas

Love this picture of The Nib with a “rather small banana”.

1. Is it a magazine?

Andrea Meloni is our Stack subscriber of the month with this lovely picture of Dog Ear. A Stack t-shirt is on its way to you now Andrea!
