At Monday night’s Stack Awards Migrant Journal picked up commendations in both the Launch of the Year and Magazine of the Year categories, and I said on stage that their latest issue is my favourite so far. So I wanted to take two minutes (or two minutes and 51 seconds to be precise) to explain why I think this is the best one they’ve produced.

Take a look at the video below to see the lovely photography and metallic cyan ink that’s at the heart of this latest issue, and check out my theory about the cyanide story. I can’t tell whether it’s far-fetched or entirely reasonable, but I don’t think that matters – the point is that Migrant Journal is the sort of dense, multi-layered magazine that leaves room for the reader to see patterns and ideas that go well beyond the words and pictures on the page.

This issue marks the half-way point of their six-issue publishing adventure, and it promises more great things to come.
