Just back from an amazing weekend in Luxembourg at Colophon 2009. Thanks again to Jeremy, Andrew and Mike for inviting Stack along and generally putting in all the work to make sure everyone had such a good time.

I’d hoped to blog a bit over the weekend itself, but there was so much to see and do and so many people to speak to that I didn’t get a chance. But now my bag’s unpacked, the washing’s in the machine and most emails have been answered, so there’s no excuse for not putting down at least a few thoughts.

Highlights of the weekend included Joerg Koch from 032c speaking about the principles and motivations behind his excellent magazine, Kasino A4‘s strange and funny bus shelter/bar, and organiser Andrew Losowsky delivering a Pecha Kucha presentation on Eros magazine. There were lots of other great speakers and events, but the best bit was the people. It sounds horribly corny, but it was genuinely invigorating to spend three days in the company of so many people who are involved in making such fantastic magazines. And of course it was brilliant to sign some of those magazines up to Stack.

I’ll probably try to do a big, joined up announcement about new Stack titles in the next week or so, and expect to have a couple more from Europe, at least two from the US and maybe even the first ones from Australia and China added to the roster.

If I’d met the people behind just a couple of these magazines it would have been a weekend well spent, but to get to see all of them, plus all the other editors, publishers, writers, photographers, illustrators and students was, well, amazing. Already looking forward to Colophon 2011.
