This week’s podcast features Ricarda Messner, publisher of both Flaneur and Sofa, and it’s actually the first conversation I recorded with the podcast in mind. She speaks really interestingly about her thought process behind the magazine, and it makes for a nice companion piece to last week’s episode, in which Steven Gregor of Gym Class magazine spoke about some of his frustrations with the independent publishing industry.

Like him, Ricarda also feels that independent magazines don’t necessarily need to be big, heavy, expensive objects, and while Flaneur will continue down that path (the new Moscow issue looks incredible) Sofa magazine is her attempt to do things differently.

I hope you enjoy the episode – check us out on Soundcloud or iTunes to hear more magazine makers speaking about what they do, and of course follow us to have our episodes delivered direct to your phone on a Friday afternoon.
