Stack at home: Elementum, May 2019

Our May 2019 delivery was Elementum, published in Dorset and very much a product of the English countryside. Dedicating its pages to stories about nature, landscape and “deep time”, it’s environmental without being political, and spiritual without being religious.

Previous editions have focussed on the history, mythology, flora and fauna of Ireland and England, and while native influences remain strong in this latest issue, they’re also joined by reflections from New Guinea, Mauritius, and Hawaii. The overriding message of this more global Elementum is that while cultural differences undoubtedly exist across time and space, the deeper experience remains the same.

Below are some of our favourite responses sent in from Stack readers around the world (everyone seems to be reading Elementum either in bed or out in the sunshine), and right at the bottom, you’ll find our May subscriber of the month…

6. Spellbinding

Elementum is best enjoyed outside, on the grass.

5. First time

This was Sarah Mci’s first delivery, and she photographed it beautifully.

4. Bedsheets (figure 1)

Reading between the sheets is a theme this month. Figure one: nice, clean, white ones.

3. Bedsheets (figure 2)

Flowery ones!

2. Reading on the tube

We love these pictures of Elementum riding the London Underground.

1. Woodchips

Ana Skamarauskas, who photographed her copy in the great outdoors, on the floor of what looks like a forest, is our winner this month.
