Huck made me a vandal

For their new counterculture issue, the people behind Huck came up with an ingenious idea – a cover that wants to be defaced.

A few thousand copies of the magazine were printed with the cover as a removable sticker, “for your debranding satisfaction”, leaving readers with a blank white cover that can be drawn on, scrawled on or otherwise customised. It’s a very polite form of rebellion, but as you can see from the image above I still felt a bit bad following their instructions (“if they told you to jump off a cliff would you do it?”)

Thankfully they’ve also provided a video that shows how it should be done, and they’re running a competition for the best defaced covers to be showcased in a special feature. I don’t expect mine to be included.
