It should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone that I love subscriptions. And I came across a great example of next level subscription service when I was over in Amsterdam last week.

Subbacultcha is a music magazine and platform for live music based in the city – people subscribe for €8 per month, and for that they receive the quarterly magazine, plus free entry to a wide range of shows and events held across Amsterdam. The magazine itself is beautifully understated – exactly the sort of free title that’s likely to pull people into music they hadn’t otherwise come across. (As I type this I’m listening to Belgian producer Sky H1, who I discovered through the magazine.)

But it’s the way the editorial product works alongside the events that really appeals to me, the two components clicking together and making it easier for people to discover and enjoy new music in Amsterdam. Take a look at the video below to see it for yourself, and feel just a little bit sad that you don’t live in Amsterdam.
