Der Greif is a photography magazine that invites a different guest editor each issue to explore a theme in images. Issue 13 is titled ‘Surplus Management’, and sees artist Penelope Umbrico assembling pictures of excess. The object itself also embodies the theme — it is printed on surplus paper found at the printer and it’s left unbound, so the images can easily fall out of order and into excess.

In this issue:

  • Visions of excess by 45 photographers and artists around the world, featuring the surplus that piles up around our everyday lives.
  • Pull the magazine apart, reassemble it in your own order and upload your version to the Der Greif website.
  • (Or handle it with extreme care because the idea of the pages getting out of order fills you with dread.)

Issue 11 and Issue 12 of Der Greif is also available in the Stack shop.
