A playful and inventive piece of photo storytelling, the new issue of Der Greif combines strange and beautiful contemporary photography with excerpts from Mary Shelley’s 19th-century novel Frankenstein. The resulting juxtapositions are sometimes funny, sometimes profound, but always create extra layers of meaning that show both the text and images in a fresh light.

Der Greif researches subjects affecting the production, distribution, presentation and thus our perception of photographic images – on screens, in print as well as in exhibitions. All projects connect virtual, physical and / or print-spaces.

In this issue:

  • Constantin Schlachter
  • Zhao Qian
  • Liz Calvi
  • Adam Thorman
