Nansen launched in 2017 to tell the story of one migrant, one issue at a time. Published in Berlin, the capital city of a country that took in almost one million refugees in 2015, this magazine wants to celebrate and connect migrant communities around the world.

This issue encounters Kalaf Epalanga, best known as a founding MC of Buraka Som Sistema, a rambunctious music project that burst out of a Lisbon nightclub and onto the global stage in 2006.

In this issue:

  • Myths around Portuguese colonialism debunked
  • Get to know the Angolan kuduro beat and its vast impact on global club music
  • Judge a Worst Coloniser Contest
  • A discussion on parenting as a migrant
