I first met Natassa Pappa in 2019, shortly after the first issue of Desired Landscapes had been released. We spoke then about the idea of delivering it to Stack subscribers, and five years later I’m pleased to say that we finally made it happen! Issue seven of the small and beautiful travel magazine arrived with our members in February, and then at the end of last month Natassa dropped into our Stack Magazine Club to talk about it.

All independent magazines are created by passionate people, but some are more personal and idiosyncratic than others, and I think this conversation shows just how much Desired Landscapes is an expression of Natassa’s own interests and her particular situation. She speaks about her background in design and academia, and how those influences led to her first publishing in print. She speaks about her home city of Athens, and how it has both inspired her and provided opportunities, leading to her organising walking tours and opening the Desired Pocket Space. And she underlines the extent to which all of these components overlap and influence one another, emerging slowly and often by chance, rather than as the result of a single masterplan.

We run our Stack Magazine Club every month and all our subscribers are invited, so if you’d like to receive a great independent magazine, and then hear direct from the people who made it, sign up today and I’ll see you on our next Zoom call.
