Cover countdown 2015: The result!
Wow. Thanks very much to everyone who voted in the cover countdown yesterday. Hundreds of you took to Twitter and Instagram to register your votes, and four magazines battled it out – Intern, Les Others, The Holborn and Shellsuit Zombie all scored consistently throughout the day and ended up within a few votes of each other.
But one magazine blew the competition away, and congratulations have to go to Justified, which eventually won over 30% of the overall vote with this beautifully composed still life:
Morning! We're back from the summer break with a huge pile of magazines to get through over the coming week. First up is @justifiedmagazine, with its third issue showcasing original photography, set design, styling and image-making. Love the simplicity of this cover by Marsha Golemac and Brooke Holm.
Good work Josh and Will and the rest of the team – unfortunately there’s no prize to hand out, other than the solid gold bragging rights that come with having the most popular independent magazine cover in the world at the end of 2015. Fact.
But we do still have one prize to give out for our favourite vote of the day, and with so many to choose from it wasn’t easy to reach a decision.
There was this spot on sentiment that came with a vote for The Gentlewoman:
And this perfect piece of pictography, which (I think) was a vote for Shellsuit Zombie:
But our final winner of the year’s subscription to Stack is James Akers, who went the extra mile tracking down blue Post-It Notes AND a hand model to recreate the cover of Intern:
Great work James – I’ll be in touch shortly to organise your free subscription. But only if you tell me what #burritofingers are.
Thanks again to everyone who took part in this year’s Cover Countdown – to the publishers who canvassed votes, and to the fans who responded so enthusiastically. I can’t wait to start adding more covers in 2016, so if you don’t already follow our Instagram account head over there and watch out for another year of quality covers starting in a couple of weeks.
