There aren’t many conferences that manage to capture the spirit of independent magazine making, but that’s exactly what Indiecon did in Hamburg when I was there in 2014. The conference has grown since then, adding its #indiemagday free trade event down by the city’s docks, and I’m really looking forward to heading back next month.

The list of speakers for this year is ridiculously good, with Danny Miller (Weapons of Reason), Penny Martin and Veronica Ditting (The Gentlewoman), Ricarda Messner (Flaneur and Sofa), Agnese Kleina (Benji Knewman), Sam Cooney and Rosetta Mills (The Lifted Brow) and Sebastian Pranz and Klaus Neuburg (Froh!) to name just a few. And because the lovely lakeside venue only holds 100 people you know you’re going to get a really intimate experience, with parties, workshops and loads of chatting over lovely food. (And seriously, the food is good.)

At the time of writing there are just a few tickets left, and at €100 for the Friday and Saturday they’re going to go fast (the Sunday #indiemagday event is free, but also much bigger). It’s all happening from 2-4 September and it’s going to be a lot of fun – see you in Hamburg…
