We’re very lucky here in London to have an exciting community of magazine makers, and Jeremy Leslie has been at the heart of things since he started his magCulture blog back in 2006. These days the blog has evolved into the magCulture Journal, which fits in alongside an online shop, a real bricks and mortar shop, an annual conference that runs in both London and New York, and a host of other activities and collaborations that take place throughout the year.

He’ll be over at the London Art Book Fair this weekend (8 and 9 September) running the Magculture Quarter, so if you’re reading this in time and you can make it to London, drop in to see him and a fine selection of independent magazine publishers showing off their latest issues, back issues and merchandise. If that’s a bit too much of a rush you could plan ahead and buy your tickets to Mod Mag on 1 November for a whole day of presentations by inspiring magazine makers from across the mainstream and the independents. Or if getting to London is out of the question, check out the new magCulture podcast to hear him and co-host Liv Siddall chatting through the latest magazine news and events.

He dropped into Somerset House earlier this week to talk through all that and more, so I hope you’ll enjoy our conversation getting into the details of his plans for a busy autumn. And if you want to hear more from the independent magazine makers themselves, check our archive on Soundcloud or iTunes for LOADS of conversations with some of our favourite editors, designers and publishers.
