When MacGuffin won Magazine of the Year and Voortuin picked up Art Director of the Year at the Stack Awards last year, I knew I was going to have to take a trip to Amsterdam. So on Monday 6 February I flew over there to put on a panel discussion featuring Kirsten Algera, editor of MacGuffin, Sim Kaart and Tom Janssen from Voortuin, and Marc Robbemond, buyer at the brilliant Athenaeum Nieuwscentrum.

It was great catching up with them all again and I hope you enjoy this week’s podcast, taken from that night’s discussion. Listen in and you’ll hear them speaking about the magazines they make, the reasons why they make them, and of course the perennial question of how to turn these fantastic independent titles into sustainable businesses.

Remember that if you enjoy this one, you can hear more panel discussions and conversations with magazine makers by tracking us down on Soundcloud or iTunes – follow us while you’re there and we’ll deliver next week’s episode direct to your phone / iPad / computer as soon as it’s ready.
