Update

My reading material in the 1990s consisted mainly of Game Boy magazines and FHM (depending which bit of the decade we’re talking about). But for people with considerably better taste than my teenage self, the 90s was a time of great magazine publishing.

Most of the titles launched back then have since faded away, but a select few are still publishing today, and for our next Printout we’re showcasing four titles that continue to lead the way 30 years later. Book your tickets and join us to hear from the following magazine heads:

Thomas Rouechè is the editor and Sohrab Golsorkhi-Ainslie is the art director of Tank, the fantastically cerebral fashion and culture magazine.

Tony Herrington is publisher of The Wire, the music magazine that operates at the furthest extremes of sound art. (This Boris video doesn’t actually show the magazine, but I think it does a good job of showing what they’re all about…)

Tom Hodgkinson is the editor and founder of The Idler, the magazine he recently relaunched in the mould of a modern independent.

Paul Clinton is assistant editor at Frieze, the arts publishing behemoth that launched in 1991 and spawned a series of world-renowned art fairs.
