Update

Just one more day to go until we reveal the winners of the first ever Stack Awards, but first, we’re taking a moment to appreciate the fantastic new magazines shortlisted for Launch of the year.

American Chordata (New York)
Available as both a downloadable PDF and a print magazine, this Brooklyn-based literary title combines sophisticated design with fresh perspectives across literature, art and photography.

Artefact (London)
Run by journalism students at London College of Communication, Artefact is both brilliantly professional and thrillingly authentic, giving a student’s eye view of local and international current affairs.

Artenol (New York)
A satirical response to the increasingly alienating contemporary arts world, Artenol is on a mission to bring today’s art back to − or at least closer to − its senses.

Benji Knewman (Riga)
A beautifully produced ‘life that you can read’, Benji Knewman is the new Latvian title that specialises in intimate portraits of extraordinary people living ordinary lives.

Fathers (Warsaw)
Another eastern European newcomer, Fathers is based in Poland and travels the world telling stories of fatherhood through personal writing, photography and illustration.

Fiera (London)
Covering the world’s design fairs through interviews, illustration and creative writing, Fiera is a neatly constructed ode to the best new design and emerging talent.

Hayo (Vancouver)
A travel magazine aimed at travellers who are curious about arts and culture, Hayo uncovers the heart and soul of the places they visit, through personal recollections and dreamy photography.

NOUA (Moldova)
Each issue of Noua uses creative workshops with first-time magazine makers to produce a pop-up publication – this first issue was made in and about Moldova.

Salvage (London)
A fresh voice from the radical left, Salvage is impassioned and provocative in its arguments for a better and fairer world.

The Smart View (Hamburg)
A magazine dedicated to photography shot on smartphones, The Smart View examines the ways in which mobile technology is changing the images we create.

Weapons of Reason (London)
A small magazine with a big message, Weapons of Reason is on a mission to turn knowledge into action through accessible, thought-provoking writing and beautiful illustration.
