Phew. After a week and a bit surrounded by huge, teetering piles of magazines, I’m very pleased to announce the shortlists for this year’s Stack Awards. Take a look on our awards page to see all the shortlisted titles across all the categories – there are 112 different titles on there and the standard is excellent across the board.

This was our toughest shortlisting yet with more magazines submitted than ever before, so I’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who took part this year. Of course the nature of a shortlisting process means that lots of really good stuff had to be cut out along the way, but I hope that even those publishers who are disappointed to have missed out themselves will be impressed by the range of titles on show.

We’re in the process of boxing up the magazines at the moment and they should be sent off to our judges first thing tomorrow morning. The judges will take a couple of weeks getting to know the titles before we come together for our judging sessions at the end of the month, which is when the commended and winning titles will be decided.

Our attention now switches to the awards ceremony itself, which will be held here at Somerset House on Thursday 14 November. It’s going to be a brilliant night celebrating the best independent magazine publishing of the last 12 months, and you could join us to see the trophies and prizes handed out. Tickets are available now for £30, and include food, drink and music, plus of course some flustered speeches by the winning publishers.

We’ll be publishing more information about all the shortlisted titles over the coming weeks, so keep an eye open for those posts on the blog, and of course the big announcement on the morning on Friday 15 November with news of all the winners.
