Update

Thanks very much to everyone who has sent their entries in for the Stack Christmas cover competition. We’re one week in with the deadline looming next Friday, so I wanted to share five of my favourites so far. But first, I should clear up a couple of questions people have been asking.

First, this doesn’t have to be a drawing competition – we’re open to seeing photography, Illustrator-created images or pretty much anything else, as long as it’s black on white.

And second, you don’t have to draw the edges of your magazine, but it won’t be held against you if you do (see Melissa Chua’s brilliant take on The Gourmand, below).

Just drop me a line if you have any questions, and remember to get your entries in by 12pm next Thursday so we have time to print the winner on our December envelopes.

But now, to those covers…

05. At the movies
I defy anyone to see this Little White Lies cover by Matthew Brazier and not feel at least a little bit excited about Christmas coming.

04. Santa loves Santa
Our Stack x Hello Mr night at The Book Club is on tonight (last tickets still available!) so I had to include this great piece by Mateusz Napieralski.

03. Baking maverick: Santa Claus
One of the few photographic entries so far, this version of Offscreen by Ally Bowman also makes excellent use of cover lines.

02. Sinister Santa
Ridiculously detailed, and more than a little bit creepy, this excellent piece of work by Mat Roff is entirely worthy of a Wrap cover.

01. Pop Christmas
And I love this pop art take on Christmas dinner, imagined for The Gourmand by Melissa Chua. More please!
