Video review: Mary magazine

On my trip to New York last week I dropped in to see Steve Heller of Daily Heller fame, and he handed me a copy of Mary magazine, a new feminist title created by one of his ex-students at SVA. There are lots of interesting feminist magazines around at the moment and Mary is a worthy addition to the list, taking an understated approach to its subject as a way of platforming women from all backgrounds.

Rather than espousing a particular political or ideological viewpoint, Mary exists to show women from a perspective that wouldn’t otherwise be seen, telling their stories across its simple, carefully ordered pages. I really enjoyed this launch issue, and I’m looking forward to seeing where Mary will go next…
