Erotic Literature

Maria Dimitrova is the editor of Mal, the journal of sexuality and erotics that was started in 2018 by the Feeld dating app. In this conversation she speaks about that origin story, the importance of editorial independence, and how they’re “following the thread”, taking advantage of opportunities as they arise and allowing the project to take its own direction.

Any literary magazine stands or falls on the strength of its writing, and Mal brings together some exceptional talent: the latest issue includes an original piece by cult author Chris Kraus and a short story by Luke Brown that was commended in the Best Original Fiction category at this year’s Stack Awards. I loved hearing the story of how this magazine found its way into print, and I hope you enjoy Maria’s interview. We have copies of Mal in the Stack shop now, so head over there and pick one up if you want to read it for yourself.
